Very weird… James Franco discusses Carl Wilson’s Celine Dion book on the Oscars red carpet — by way of making excuses for why he does not watch escapist/bad t.v. but intends to do so soon. Here’s my earlier link to the book.
Franco is doing an MFA poetry program, so I knew he was probably more thoughtful/ better read than the typical young H’wood star…
There is something deeply uncomfortable about that clip. It seems to enact the almost unbridgeable gap between current academia and current pop culture.
Hmm, except I guess academics with blogs scanning the MTV red carpet pre-show for indirect Bourdieu references provide a rather nice bridge.
PS but then there is your assumption that he is reading the book as homework…
Celine Dion is got to be the best singer, she has a very sweet warm voice ..
